About this Death Cafe
This will be the first Death Cafe to take place at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk. The cafe will be hosted in Tranmer House from where Mrs. Edith Pretty looked out in the 1930's and contemplated what we now know to be the mounds of an Anglo Saxon burial ground in her garden. The excavation she initiated revealed one of the most impressive boat burials ever found. The site clearly has a rich history connected to death, burial and ritual and we hope will also be a welcoming venue for a contemporary Death Cafe.
With thanks to the National Trust for hosting the cafe at their site.
About Nina
This cafe has been organised by artists Nina Pope & Karen Guthrie (AKA somewhere.org.uk). We have been working for sometime at Sutton Hoo and thought it would make a really interesting venue for a Death Cafe.
Having attended a Death Cafe previously and followed the enormous success of the model we are keen to experience first hand facilitating one in this amazing location.
